When I saw this picture on Style Me Pretty last week, I knew I had to fit it in somewhere in a post:The Look of Love : wedding emotional philadelphia relationships Dont Gi SourceSo with that photo as inspiration, I figured I would dedicate this post to all of the people who really SUPPORTED Mr. Socks and me throughout our relationship, and who were there for us on our wedding day. These are the people we look to for strength as we move forward in our marriage.Momma Socks and Dad Socks took every kooky idea I had in stride when it came to our wedding, and instead of being hesitant to accept our nontraditional wedding, they embraced every detail with complete acceptance and excitement. They have loved Mr. Socks unconditionally since I brought him home for the first time and accept him as their son. Mr. Socks and I know we can go to them for anything and everything, and we are so grateful to them for their love and support. The Look of Love : wedding emotional philadelphia relationships Mom Dad Sister Socks and BIL Socks were also there for us from the moment they drove from Cincinnati to New Jersey! BIL Socks video recorded almost every moment of the wedding (minus the drama) and I

I was reading David Bach’s national bestseller Smart Couples Finish Rich the other night, and in it he discusses prenuptial agreements. We all know that this is a touchy subject for most couples but it should not be ignored. He suggests most couples should discuss them early on in the engagement, even before getting engaged. He also says asking your husband/wife to sign a prenup doesn’t mean there is something wrong with the relationship – it just proves how serious they are about their financial future.Between myself and my fiance, we don’t know of anyone who has gotten one done before their wedding. But then again this issue is kind of personal so maybe they haven’t said anything about it. I was wondering if anyone has discussed this subject with their prospective spouses and what kind of reactions they have received, both positive and negative. My fiance says that if he were a lawyer advising me about prenuptial agreements, he would tell all of his clients to get a prenup to mitigate any future disputes, but that as a spouse he would feel a bit hurt/insulted. But he generally supports whatever I want to do regarding this issue. I am a bit on the fence…..any thoughts ladies?Who needs a Prenuptial Agreement? : wedding legal Prenup prenup.jpg

On yesterday’s show, Martha Stewart had Karen Porter of Tilly’s Cakes on to teach everyone how to make Petit Fours with little butterflies. I have posted a couple of times about the bridesmaid tea I’m hosting the day before the wedding, and Petit Fours were one of the must have aspects. I was so excited to see these easy steps! You can find the recipe for the pound cake here and the recipe for the icing here.I think I will do them with candied violets or make them into little wedding cakes. Aren’t they so cute!

So, I have shared with you the story of the ring and now comes the story of the proposal. We planned this engagement to a tee. And when I say “we”, I mean “we”. We knew a year ago that we wanted to get married in 2009. We also knew that we wanted to get married in October of 2009, so we started planning. The Proposal : wedding proposal Proposal proposal(photo source)We decided to buy the ring together. I didn

As churches and other wedding venues are becoming more restrictive about rice and confetti, couple have begun to look for alternatives. Bubbles have attained a decent level of popularity in recent years. A new trend that is rising as well is butterfly releases.Sounds lovely and romantic. Delicate little bursts of colour fluttering in the sunshine around the bridal couple. What could possibly be wrong with that?A bunch of things, actually. Probably the most common butterfly used for this purpose is the large and striking monarch butterfly. Monarch butterflies migrate. Take a butterfly from California, ship it to Virginia, and it is WAY off its flight path. Unable to migrate, it will likely die. Entrepreneurial types in Mexico, the migratory destination, will quickly see an opportunity for profit, and will harvest butterflies there. Even if you are using a different, non-migratory butterfly, Insects from one part of the country carry different insect diseases, and will infect — or be infected by — local butterflies. Often the butterflies arrive dead, and many will be dead within a day or two, from the stress of being shipped, from the stress of being released in the wrong environment. It’s just not a good idea. It would be a shame if this so-romantic idea resulted in the extinction of these gorgeous creatures. Still, there is one option available, if you really, really want the romance of butterflies around your fairy-tale wedding. Instead of bringing the butterflies to you, find yourself a butterfly conservatory, and get married there!Source

Out with the old:planner1.jpgAnd in with the new (and the first things I’ve had personalized with my new name. So exciting!!):planner2.jpgSince I didn’t want to take any chances and depend on subtle hints to Mr. Daisy, I bought myself my own holiday gift this year, to kick off the season. Because really, there’s nothing I wanted more than my 2007 Planner. (Yes, I am obsessed with keeping a tangible record of my (oh-so-fascinating) life). Palm Pilots? Treos? Blackberries? Bah to all that newfangled technology! I am all about pens and paper. So what if my day book gives me a bad back from its weight… totally worth it!The Weekly Journal and New York Pocket Diary are both from Graphic Image New York, where they can personalize everything. (Love it!) I actually thought about giving these as bridesmaids’ gifts, but acknowledge the fact that not everyone is as keen on written records as I. still though, if you have a bridal party that leans toward the Luddite eschews scheduling technology (like I do!) then I think this would rule. They have traditional colors plus ones that are superfun:planner3.jpgTheir jewelry rolls or pouches would also be a great gift:planner4.jpg(For your bridal party, for the holidays, or for yourself. Because who can buy you a better a gift than you?!?)
