King Hippo and I tossed around the idea of a destination wedding. The Mr. thought it would be amazing to get married in Italy, and while I TOTALLY agree, it would be a decision that would prevent a lot of our loved ones from attending. Not only would it be expensive for our guests, but a lot of my close friends (and all of my bridesmaids) have children, and asking them to either cart their kids halfway across the world or be away from them for an extended period of time just didn
Pretty spiffy, no? I was wary of buying one off of eBay that I couldn
Have you checked out WeddingMapper.com yet? It is really a neat site. My favorite part is the Create Your Own Wedding Map. It provides you with a customizable and interactive wedding map where you can add locations of your wedding ceremony and reception. This is how: Give your map a title (like your and your groom
This is not the easiest post for me to write. It means I need to be honest with you about myself – honest about my faults. With less than two months before Mr. Bear Cub and I are back in Portland, I feel like I don
I attended 7 weddings last year. Prior to last year, I was gaga over weddings. I would get bridal magazines in the airport on business trips so no one would know. I would chat with Ewe Mom and rip out ads to save in a folder she kept. It was clandestine, pre-ring wedding planning. More on this topic later, but for now, just know that I loved long tables since I was clandestine wedding planning. Also know that I have yet to be at a reception featuring any other table shape than round. These are the reasons why I fell in love with long tables:

SourceSo I know that I love the long tables, but how do you execute them without going to the poor farm??? That, my dear Watson, is precisely the question. Of course, towering candelabras and to-the-ceiling flowers would be exquisite.Side note: Where in the world are there venues that let you have open flames? Because, seriously, every venue that we looked into had a hurricane policy where you had to cover up your lovely tapers with glass. End side note. However, the costs associated with these gigantic statements would be a glass too tall for me to drink.I could care less about real flowers, which is going to save me a lot of dough on the bouquets and bouts. My penny-pinching-self loved this idea so much that I decided I didn
I absolutely loovvveeeee arts and crafts. I used to half jokingly say that my dream was to become the Korean Martha Stewart because my initials are also M.S. Haha. What I like best about arts and crafts is that your product is your own unique creation, and it’s usually cheaper than if you were to buy it. For some reason, I am obsessed with my wedding being unique and special. Yesh, yesh, everyone’s wedding is unique and special in its own way, but do you ever wish that yours was SUPER special?? Hahaha, call me childish, but that’s why I think I want to try and do almost everything DIY!I shall start out simple – starting with the STDs. Our STD will be magnets that our guests can stick on their refrigerator. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m on a pretty tight budget so cost-saving is an absolute must! Below are some cost saving tricks that I considered and/or used for my STD.1. Print out your STDs as postcards and save on postage (15 cents/STD). Prints Made Easy is a great site that allows easy printing on postcard format for a great price!2. Rather than printing photocards, print your STDs on regular 4×6 picture paper and save as much as 18 cents/STD. You can take a regular photo and add writing via a photo-editor such as Photoshop or you can create a jpeg image of pretty much whatever you want like we did.3. If you have a nice printer, you could also print your own STDs on cardstock or glossy paper – which comes perforated at a higher cost. The cost of your STDs will be dependent on how much ink it will require, the type of paper, cutting method, etc.4. Rather than have your STD printed on an entire magnet, buy and cut magnet tape (these are magnets with adhesive on one side and come in rolls and sheets) and place a small piece on the postcard/picture. A 1.5″ x 1″ magnet holds up a photo just as well as a huge 4″ x 6″ magnet.
This will save you at least $1.30/ STD!!I used Walgreens to print my STDs (I prefer their glossy print vs. Walmart’s matte print) on 4 x 6 photo paper. I then bought magnets that were used for business cards (I calculated and this option was cheaper than buying a roll of magnet tape), and cut them up in fourths.
Peel the magnet to reveal the sticky adhesive, stick on the back of the STD, and Voila~!
The cost for each STD: a mere 26 cents! (not including postage.) wOoT WoOT!

My wedding favors came in about a month ago. They’re so cute and they’re green! I must kick into my opera voice~ Laaaaaaaaaa! La,La,La, Laaaaaaaaaaaa!
I got the Tea Forte sachets. You can order a box of 48 tea infusers for $45 (not bad). They come in assorted flavors. I ordered a box of the Forte (black tea), Oasis (green tea), and a box of the Chamomile Tisane (herbal tea). The expensive side of this favor kicks in when you want to order the ceramic tray (displayed in the 1st photo above). They come 2 in a box and the average going price at the time of my research was $6 a box. I found mine for $5. Yes it is pricey but they’re sooo cute plus I don’t want a favor that my guests will throw out. I want one they can use. Also the majority of them are coming from out of town so hell yeah I want something nice for my guests. There are many sites that carry the Tea Forte collection so really do your research on this.

I also really want to do a cookie favor to go with the tea. I want to put it all in a box and when they open it it’ll be like: Ta Da! You are special, no matter what yo momma said to you. This is not a crappy guest favor my piggies!!I mean what’s tea without cookies? It is nothing. Who drinks tea without cookies? What crazy person would do that? That’s just sick!………. I’m sorry what?………… Oh. Everyone? hmm.So I’m the only freak. Sue me. I need a munchie with my tea. Is that such a crime? That’s just how it is. Not to mention 2 packets of sugar with the tea! Oh yeah! That’s right baby! Sweet & yummy! Just like yo suga momma!!! I’m sorry. I got lost on planet Ladybug again. So anyways, where was I? Yes, cookies! Who doesn’t like cookies? I really like the monogram cookies. They’re looking really cute to me with the pastel icing. Kinda like a hot boy in daisy dukes. Hahaha…. I’m getting a visual. Haha… I chuckle and I’m 100% kidding so relax! If not the monogram then I wouldn’t mind the “Love” cookies but only if they got rid of the red and made it more color coded to my color theme.

In my introductory post, I talked about why M. Flamingo and I considered ourselves to be pink, one legged (the majority of the time), long beaked birds. But before I continue, I just wanted to point out that I am the first Montreal Bee. Happy to be representing!
