For a while I was pretty stumped on what to do for place cards. Then my friend Jax suggested I use the favor boxes we had as place cards, too. It was a stroke of brilliance! (Another post to come soon about the favors themselves,I

The beginningGetting readyThe plan was that Mr. Dahlia would come up to the bridal suite at 12:45, where we would have 15 minutes or so to be alone together (and check each other out in our wedding finest.)Truth be told, I was running a little bit late. About 2 minutes late, which isn

We arrived pretty early on our first day of our honeymoon in Paris. Around 8:00 am all the locals were still sleeping and several cafes were just starting to open for business! Our hotel was located in the St. Germain des Pres District and there was a lot to see in the area. Our first stop was the Notre Dame Cathedral:Honeymoon in Paris, Day 1 : wedding honeymoon philadelphia post wedding Z95851202.jpgThe weather was pretty cool and sunny, as you can see the crowd really started to build up around noon!Honeymoon in Paris, Day 1 : wedding honeymoon philadelphia post wedding Cathedralparis.jpgWe arrived so early

Okay, okay, I realize there have been a lot of J. Crew posts lately. But who can blame Miss Peep Toe, Miss Lemonade, Miss Latte, Miss Meatball, and me for loving on J.Crew when you can order bridesmaids dresses and get them THE VERY NEXT DAY! Or even RETURN THEM if they aren

For my 18th birthday, two of my dearest friends presented me with a beautiful Remington Portable Model 5 typewriter, c. 1932. It was perfect and fully functional, and I loved it. When another of my dear friends was sent to Iraq as a marine, I frequently typed him letters on the typewriter. In every home I had, it was proudly displayed, with both fashion and function.Scrolled Up Plans : wedding denver diy stationery Husky11 husky1(personal photo)I have always tried to find ways to use the lovely, antiquated typewriter technology, and the wedding provided so many opportunities! Of course, the guestbook was the first decision made. We would load a scroll of nice paper and have our guests type us their well wishes. Many other couples have gone this route, and while the idea certainly isn

Oh, well, let me offer you a program so now you’ll know!z891789z891909Here’s how we did them:2 packs of parchment paper from WalMart– $10.002 packs of of sealing wax glue sticks from Michaels–$8.001 “H” monogram seal from Michaels–$2.006 spools of ribbon from WalMart–$9.00Inside the program, we listed the following information:Attendants/bridal partyOrder of ceremony“Always Present in our Hearts” (deceased family)Since we wanted to keep the programs to one page, space was a valuable commodity. My dad used Publisher to create a three-column layout, with each of the three columns being a different width (to give us that off-center tri fold look). He then put the name layout on another document and we printed the paper on both sides. We used two fonts–the same two used on the STDs ad invites; Celeste and Copperplate Gothic Light. The sealing wax glue sticks are a pretty cool little thing. They work in any old hot glue gun–you just squirt out the amount of wax you want, stamp in your seal, and go. The only problem we encountered was that it takes a long time to make each one. You squirt the wax out, then let it cool partially, then push in the seal, then let it cool some more, then remove the seal. And since I was holding the ribbon together at the same time, I spent a lot of time just sitting, with my hand keeping ribbon closed as wax cooled.Glueing:z891825(see what I mean about using my fingers to keep the ribbon together?)Mr. Blueberry cut all the ribbons for me:z891843(these were actually just the leftovers)Here they are, finished, safe and sound for one week:z891917Are you having programs? What kind?
